Rocklands Highline Festival 2024

The Rocklands Highline Festival is happening at De Pakhuys from March 28th to April 1st, 2024. Nestled amidst the breathtaking scenery of Rocklands, the festival offers a range of highlines suitable for all skill levels. It is the ideal event for both beginners and experienced highliners to test their mettle and share skills. Last year’s festival included 7 highlines and helped fuel the stoke for a Meeting in September.

Celebrating a Legacy of Slacklining

The Rocklands Highline Festival holds a special significance within the South African slacklining community. Established in 2014, the event celebrates the dedication and passion of Sylvain Burki, considered the “father of highlining” in Rocklands. Since its inception, the festival has fostered a supportive and collaborative environment where individuals can learn, grow, and share their love for the sport.

Event Highlights and Activities

  • Diverse Highlines: The festival features a variety of highlines ranging from beginner-friendly 20-meter lines to more challenging and longer options rigged on polyester and nylon webbings.
  • Community-Led Workshops: Throughout the event, participants can engage in workshops led by experienced members of the slacklining community. Try your hand at various styles of slacklining, join Britt for jungle yoga, or get in touch with the flow arts. Sit down with Küra to crochet a hat or add your instrument to the music around the fire.

  • Camping and Amenities: The festival takes place at the De Pakhuys campsite, providing participants with access to essential amenities such as toilets, showers, and a communal kitchen. Attendees are responsible for bringing their own camping gear, food, and drinks.
  • Sustainable Practices: The venue prioritizes environmental responsibility and asks visitors to take their trash out of the campsite with them. The kitchen does have a bin for organic waste.
  • Rock Art: The ancient San rock paintings are abundant in the area and keep you on your toes. For a guided tour a visit to Traveller’s rest is recommended.
